Invitations to tender
The 2010/2011 Invitations to Tender (ITT) current calls are summarized below. Laboratories and Universities from the ESA Member States that have subscribed to the EOEP-3 Programme of the European Space Agency are invited to bid on these Calls for Proposals.
DIVERSITY II TENDER
The Diversity II project will contribute to the programs of work of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) by assessing the status and trends of biological diversity in two important ecosystems of the Earth, namely inland waters and drylands.
For the inland water ecosystems, the project will deliver a global assessment of the availability of freshwater water and of its quality, with the provision of the following key observations over a number of large perennial inland waters (i.e. minimum set of 300 lakes and reservoirs), on a multi-yearly basis, for the period 2002-2012: surface water extent; lake surface height; water quality (chlorophyll-a concentrations, Total Suspended Material concentrations, absorption coefficient of coloured dissolved organic matters, water transparency/turbidity metrics and other quality-related surface water parameters that can be derived from the inherent optical properties of the water constituents); Lake Surface Temperatures (Lake ST).
For the dryland ecosystems, the project will deliver a global assessment of the status and trends of the biological diversity in dry and sub-humid lands, with the provision of the following key observations over a large part of the Earth drylands and for 3 different points in time: land cover types with a limited number of classes that are relevant for the dryland ecosystems; vegetation conditions; Net Primary Productivity (NPP) and/or any related indices on the vegetative / biomass productivity of dryland ecosystems; Rain Use Efficiency (RUE) and/or any related indices on the land status and degradation in dryland ecosystems.
