Coastal Monitoring test sites
The importance of the coastal zone for economic activities and the anthropogenic stresses on the ecosystem, have been described and discussed widely throughout the past 20 years.
Responding to this, Sentinel-2 mission will allow:
- The mapping of small lakes
- The mapping of inter-tidal and supra-tidal vegetation at 10 metres resolution
- The systematic monitoring of coral reefs
- The combined used of Sentinel-2 spatial resolution and Sentinel-3 spectral resolution will offer unprecedented water quality observing capabilities for coastal and inland waters
