The Ministry of Irrigation of Syria is the ministry that is responsible for drawing up the water policy of the state. It was established in 1982. The Ministry of Irrigation (MoI) is the central institution for the management of water resources in Syria and is responsible for the allocation of water resources to the domestic, industrial and agricultural sectors. MoI is responsible for the planning, design, management, operation and maintenance of dams and public irrigation systems. Several directorates and authorities fall under the responsibility of MOI, including the Water Quality Monitoring Directorate. |
