NPOL

Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) , Kochi is one of the major R&D laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The Board supports basic research that will generate new knowledge potentially useful to the Navy and to train young minds to generate and apply that knowledge for Naval purposes.

The Board sets down the principles and practices governing the relationship of DRDO with academic "think tanks" and non profit research institutions in India and abroad as well as laboratories of the other agencies like CSIR. Any specially designed sensors, instrumentation, data acquisition and display system that are considered necessary for carrying out research are funded by NRB.

The Board approves research programs for funding based on evaluation and recommendations of specialist panels.
