Research Organisation
The activities of the Section of Milan of the CNR-IREA are focused on the exploitation of satellite and airborne sensors in the optical domain (multi-spectral and hyper-spectral remote sensing) for environmental processes monitoring.

Main research lines concern:

  • Land cover mapping with conventional and non-conventional classification techniques (glacier and snow, vegetation, fires);
  • Retrieval of bio-geophysical parameters for water bodies (chlorophyll, suspended matter) and for vegetation (LAI, fractional cover, fPAR);
  • Integration of multi-source spatial data and methodologies of geo-spatial data analysis for decision support.

Attention is also dedicated to the education activities at University and secondary school levels.
