The Department of Biometry and Information Sciences covers two mutually complementary disciplines in the field of enterprise research.

The main focus of activities is the development and application of mathematical and statistical models and procedures to describe economic and ecological connections and processes in the forestry and timber industries. The Department's multi-disciplined research into mathematics, statistics, data analysis and information technology, operational research and systems analysis is relevant to nearly all fields of forestry.
The second focus of activities encompasses the provision of mathematical, statistical and computing services to the various departments of the Forestry Research Institute and administration of the Institute's entire IT infrastructure.
