SAWS, in partnership with the South African Department of Water and Environmental Affairs (DWEA) is developing the South African Air Quality Information System (SAAQJS). Phase I ofSAAQIS consists mainly of an accwnulation of national air quality monitoring networks. This phase is already functional and can be viewed on www.saaqjs.org.za. Additionally, SAWS is developing an atmospheric dispersion modelling system towards operational air quality forecasting for the public good. Operational air quality forecasting will depend on the availability of a comprehensive national emissions inventory. |
